GASTROINTESTINAL ONCOLOGY CLINIC AND SURGERY

• Esophageal Cancer - Transthoracic and Trans hiatal oesophagectomies are also performed regularly. Inoperable patients are palliated by expandable metallic stents or endoscopic feeding gastrostomies. The management of these patients is generally undertaken in consultation with an oncologist to plan the adjuvant treatment that may be needed.

• Gastric Cancer - Palliative and curative resections for gastric and gastro-esophageal junction cancers are performed frequently, along with gastrectomy with extended lymph node dissections.

• Liver Cancer – Multimodality treatment for liver cancer like intervention radiology procedures such as Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) , TACE (Trans Arterial Chemo Embolization, TARE ( TransArterial Radio Embolization) , Oncological Services and Surgery for liver cancer is available. Liver Transplant is offered for appropriate candidates .

• Gall Bladder Cancer and Cholangiocarcinoma – Medical and Surgical Gastroenterology team work hand in hand for the best treatment. All the state of the art treatment is available in the department.

• Pancreas Cancer – Therapeutic and palliative treatment like Whipple’s Pancreaticoduodenenctomy , Distal Pancreatectomy is being done with minimum morbidity and mortality.

• Large Intestine and Rectal Cancer – All the laparoscopic and open procedures to treat colon cancer are available in the department.
